My website is now quite some years old and I experimented a lot with self-made content-management stuff. My last approach wasn't so bad. I had a Java solution which did all the design so I could just drop some simple HTML files with some meta tags in it. And I did it like this because I like it. I'm no fan of Admin GUIs where I can enter my content, upload files with quirky HTML upload features and click lots of buttons and toggle checkboxes...
But I noticed that I'm not updating my website often enough and my old website missed some features I'd like to have (like letting users to comment articles, search for articles, organize them by date, and so on). Sure, I could program it but I planned this for a long time and never did it. So now I decided to concentrate on the content and let others handle the programming. That's why I'm using a blogging software now. I didn't searched long for a good software. I just took Serendipity because I know one of the coders. I hope it was a good decision...
You may miss all the articles from my old website. Please be patient. I will re-add all of them one by one in the next days/weeks. So just visit again in some days and use the quicksearch feature to find the new location. I'll also put some redirects for the articles which are referenced on other pages.
By the way: This is my second try (Or the third?) to switch to a blogging system. My first approach was a failure because I lost motivation while converting my static pages into blog articles. So this time I'm using a trick: I'm starting with this empty blog right away and delete my old website framework so I'm forced to convert the old pages. Let's hope this plan works ...
